Sesame Street: Super Healthy Monsters

With a combination of education and entertainment, the friendly Muppets Elmo, Cookie Monster, Grover, Bert and Ernie, Rosita and a new character called Dr. Rooster. Sesame Street: Super Healthy Monsters will broadcast positive educational messages on the most beneficial food for the body and heart, physical exercise, management of emotions and knowledge on how the body works and the signals it sends us. The project will also have the help of Ferrán Adrià, Susanna Griso, Gerard Piqué and David Bustamante who will give pieces of healthy advice for the entire family.

A television project based on science

Faced with growing childhood obesity and the prevalence of cardiovascular disease, as the main cause of death due to illness in Spain (31.7%), Valentin Fuster, MD, PhD, Chairman of the SHE Foundation, launched this project. A children’s series which intends to cover educational needs in matters of cardiovascular health, starting with the youngest of all.

The SÍ! Programme (Total Health), promoting the SHE Foundation in many Spanish schools, has been a guide in order to give shape to the goals on healthy habits which SESAME STREET: SUPER HEALTHY MONSTERS wants to transmit.

A Doctor on Sesame Street

The new arrival on Sesame Street: Super Healthy Monsters is Dr. Rooster, inspired by Valentin Fuster, MD, PhD, Chairman of the SHE Foundation, Director of the Mount Sinai Cardiovascular Institute in New York and Managing Director of the CNIC. While he instructs the residents of Sesame Street on their bodies and hearts, Dr. Rooster will motivate young Spanish viewers to take care of themselves in a fun way through healthy life habits which will allow them to reduce cardiovascular risks in adulthood.

Moreover, Cookie Monster will learn about healthy food that he can “eat always” and the less nutritious foods that he can only “eat sometimes” and should be enjoyed in moderation. Dr. Rooster and all his furry friends will discover healthy food, like seasonal fruits and vegetables, daily exercises and activities such as footing and dancing, and other ways to keep the heart at a healthy rhythm.
